Many say that the bay of Ambatoloaka is the most important  touristic “center” of Nosy Be. This wonderful bay, situated 10 km from the airport, is shared by two villages: Madirokely and Ambatoloaka. These two places are of course connected by a road but many prefer the sea side walk, 15 minutes, above all on full moon nights.

Ambatoloaka is the “balnear village” of Nosy Be where straw huts and cheap restaurants, bungalows and hotels stand along side of some sometimes quite bumpy roads.There are bars animated late in the night and restaurants for all prices and taste. Nevertheless, do not expect a very developed and modern balnear station of the mediterranean riviera style.

In the continuation of Ambatoloaka, in a more family like environment, the much more quiet Madirokely beach offers a bathing place exempt of danger. On sundays, the beach is more animated with many colorful scenes. Many pleasant adresses have been found with “feet in the water”.
