In a general way, we suggest that you embark on the Maridokaly beach.
Coached by our skipper guide, you’ll try out whatever fishing technique you choose, palangrottes, jig, cast and drag, everything is possible, to be enjoyed with no restraints. It is by the way not rare to get to do all four techniques in one day, according to the season, the weather and the rythm of the tide.
Catch is at honnor for the Graal quest, a beautiful and big ignobilis, the palangrotte and the jig for deep sea fish, groupers, dogtooth tuna and the suprising chicken-fish.
According to the season, the big drag for the marlin, the sail fish, the coryphene, the tuna and other open ocean fish. |
| The fishing "spots" |
Many fishing zones at only a few miles from the coast offer nice possibilities: The Banks of the Camel, the Banks of the Unicorn, the Banks of the Small Beaver. The passing through of pelagic fish such as thazards (“angoho” in malagasy”) wahoos, carangues and other predators is frequent. But it is without doubt on the distant spots, Banks of the Big Snake, the Big Beaver, the Leven, the courrier bay that we’ll really be able to share our passion.
After several hours of jig and cast, on a boat a drift, arms and back in tension, one appreciates the small half hour needed to get back to the catamaran- hotel base- instead of 4 hours of fast vedette boat to reach Nosy Be. |

For those who may be tempted by “Fishing and a Robinson-like adventure”, we have at disposal 3 bivouacs on the Islands of Ramada and Mitsio and the Courrier Bay, bivouacs limited to 6 fishermen maximum (base of 3 per boat)
We depart- fishermen, escort and guides- in fast boats to reach fishing spots early in the morning (some 3 hours of navigation). While we are fishing, our logistics- slower- reach the basis and get the camp ready.
Here or there, according to places, we’ll sleep either in a straw hut or under an individual tent, equiped with a solar shower and necessary commodities.
For the fisherman (or women): all fishing technique and perhaps on a full moon night a night fishing.
For the escort: relax, swimming, diving with mask and tuba under supervision (equipment with combi at disposal)
Meals with seafood, grilled fish and coconut rice, prepared by our cook will be taken at the common table in a straw hut lit by tempest lights and the stars. |
